Founded in 1732 on the banks of the Ottawa River and Lake of Two Mountains. Rigaud is located in the suburbs of Montreal, about 45 minutes from downtown and about 10 minutes from the Ontario border. With a population of 6,000 (2007), Rigaud is composed of approximately 70% French speakers and 30% English speakers and allophones.
